A man wanted on a warrant for a first-degree rape charge in Pierce County was arrested Monday south of Chehalis in possession of an illegal firearm, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office.

David W. Love, 53, of Tacoma, was charged Tuesday in Lewis County Superior Court with one count each of second-degree unlawful possession of a firearm and possession of an unlawful firearm. Superior Court Judge Andrew Toynbee granted him $75,000 bail in the local case.

According to the sheriff’s office, at 9:50 p.m. on Monday, deputies responded to the 100 block of Guerrier Road for a report of a man who was believed to be suicidal and also making threats to another person.

Deputies arrived and discovered that the man, identified as Love, had an arrest warrant from Pierce County for a rape case.

When arrested on the warrant, he was found with a shotgun, which he is not allowed to have due to past criminal history.
