Suspect Arrested After Teen Stabbed in Chest Following Fight at Chehalis Walmart

An 18-year-old Onalaska man allegedly stabbed another teen in the chest Thursday night during a fight in the parking lot of Walmart in Chehalis, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

Jose Chagollan, 18, is scheduled to make his first appearance on suspicion of first-degree assault in Lewis County Superior Court this afternoon.

Officers responded at 9 p.m. Thursday to the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue after receiving a report of a fight between two males.

According to police, witnesses reported the males were in a fight but left in separate vehicles before police arrived.

Officers learned from dispatchers that a 17-year-old was taken to Providence Centralia Hospital with a stab wound to his chest. As officers responded to the hospital, the boy was being prepped for transportation to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

Officers continued to speak with witnesses, and later located the suspect, Chagollan, at a residence on Brockway Road outside of Chehalis.

They arrested Chagollan and impounded his vehicle pending a search warrant.

As of Monday morning, the Chehalis Police Department reported the condition of the victim and the extent of his injuries were unknown.
