Sirens: Suspect Sustains Serious Injury After Punching Window; Gasoline Stolen, Fuel Lines Cut; Man Arrested After Being Found Asleep in Running Car

Woman Booked on Assault Charge

• At 7:55 a.m. on Friday, police arrested Kendra C. Comfort, 30, of Chehalis, on suspicion of third-degree assault in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue.

Package Stolen from Porch

• At 1:22 p.m. on Friday, a package was reported stolen from a front porch in the 1300 block of Logan Street.

Vehicle Prowls

• At 2:28 p.m. on Friday, power tools were reported stolen from a vehicle in the 1500 block of Lewis Street.

• At 10:20 p.m. on Friday, a vehicle prowl was reported in the 900 block of Harrison Avenue. A purse was stolen.

• At 8:57 a.m. on Saturday, a vehicle prowl was reported in the 100 block of North Tower Avenue. A purse was stolen.

• At 5:01 a.m. on Monday, a vehicle prowl was reported in the 100 block of East Bridge Street.

• At 9:59 a.m. on Monday, a vehicle prowl was reported in the 100 block of South Washington Avenue. Prescription sunglasses and a cell phone charger were stolen.

Suspect Sustains Serious Injury After Punching Window

• At 1:31 p.m. on Saturday, police responded to a report that a person punched a window and broke it in the 100 block of North Tower Avenue. The suspect sustained a “life-threatening” injury from the broken glass and was transported to the hospital, according to the Centralia Police Department.

Investigation Ongoing in Assault

• At 11:56 p.m. on Saturday, police received a report of an assault in the 100 block of South Tower Avenue. A man was transported to the hospital with injuries to his face. The suspect has not been identified. An investigation is ongoing.

Vehicle Stolen

• At 2:34 p.m. on Sunday, a silver 2000 Toyota Tundra was reported stolen in the 300 block of M Street in Centralia.

Teen Issued Summons for Alcohol Theft

• At 4:15 p.m. on Sunday, police received a report of a theft of alcohol from a store in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue. Police issued a court summons to a 19-year-old Chehalis man.

Hit and Run

• At 12:18 a.m. on Monday, a hit and run was reported in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue. The victim reported a black SUV ran into the back of his vehicle, then fled the scene. The case is under investigation.

Assault Against Nurses Reported

• At 3:15 a.m. on Monday, police responded to Providence Centralia Hospital in the 900 block of South Scheuber Road to a report of an assault by a patient against two nurses. No arrests were reported.

Wallet, Credit Cards Taken

• At 6:28 a.m. on Monday, a theft was reported in the 900 block of Harrison Avenue. A wallet and credit cards were stolen.

Gasoline Stolen, Fuel Lines Cut

• At 8:28 a.m. on Monday, gasoline was reported stolen from a vehicle overnight in the 1000 block of South Gold Street.

• At 3:59 p.m. on Monday, police received a report that fuel lines were cut and gasoline stolen from two vehicles in the 1600 block of South Gold Street.

Lawnmower Stolen

• At 10:51 a.m. on Monday, a Craftsman push lawnmower was reported stolen overnight from a yard in the 2500 block of Borst Avenue.

Utilities Check Forged, Cashed

• At 3:08 p.m. on Monday, police received a report that a check made out to the city of Centralia public utilities had been stolen, altered and fraudulently cashed in the 200 block of West Main Street. The case is under investigation.

DUI Suspect Arrested

• At 9:01 p.m. on Monday, police responded to the 1200 block of North Pearl Street and arrested David A. Spencer, 76, of Centralia, on suspicion of driving under the influence.

Inattention Causes Car Crash Into House

• At 10:26 p.m. on Monday, police responded to the 1200 block of Mellen Street after receiving a report of a vehicle crashing into a house. The driver received non-life-threatening injuries. Police determined inattention to be the cause of the crash.

Suitcase Stolen

• At 4:16 a.m. on Tuesday, a suitcase was reported stolen in the 300 block of North Gold Street. The victim reported the suitcase stolen while she was sleeping outside.

Chehalis Police Department Thefts Reported

• At 8:47 a.m. on Friday, police received a report of a third-degree theft in the 1000 block of Northeast Kresky Avenue.

• At 9:24 a.m. on Friday, a third-degree theft was reported in the 200 block of Southwest 13th Street at Penny Playground.

• At 4:47 p.m. on Saturday, a shoplifter was reported in the 1000 block of North National Avenue. A man reportedly stole boots. No arrests were made.

• At 8:52 a.m. on Monday, a theft was reported in the 1000 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue. No arrests were made.

Custodial Assault Reported at Green Hill

• At 9:49 a.m. on Friday, police received a report of an assault between an inmate and a staff member that occurred July 27 at Green Hill School in the 300 block of Southwest 11th Avenue. An inmate was reportedly being aggressive and staff took steps to restrain him. He reportedly resisted and spat on the driver of the van he was in. The inmate, Aaron D. Diamond, 18, of Chehalis, was referred to prosecutors on suspicion of custodial assault and felony harassment.

Hit and Run

• At 12:13 p.m. on Friday, a hit and run was reported near the intersection of Louisiana Avenue and Chamber of Commerce Way. The incident reportedly occurred the previous Monday.

Harassment

• At 3:53 p.m. on Friday, police received a report of harassment from the 200 block of Northwest Chehalis Avenue.

Trespassers Reported

• At 5:37 p.m. on Friday, police received a report of trespassers in the 1000 block of North National Avenue. No arrests were made.

Stereo Stolen

• At 12:18 p.m. on Saturday, a stereo was reported stolen out of a vehicle in the 100 block of Northwest Chehalis Avenue.

Tent Stolen

• At 9:50 p.m. on Saturday, a tent was reported stolen in the 1000 block of Rice Road.

Protection Order Violated

• At 9:06 a.m. on Sunday, a protection order was reportedly violated in the 1000 block of South Market Boulevard.

Assault Suspect Arrested

• At 2:17 p.m. on Sunday, police responded to a report of a domestic-violence assault in the 300 block of Southwest Third Street. Jesse F. Bowen, 35, of Chehalis, was arrested on suspicion of fourth-degree assault, domestic violence, and interfering with reporting of domestic violence.

Baby Left in Car

• At 8:11 p.m. on Sunday, police received a report that a man left a baby in a car and went into a business in the 300 block of Northwest State Avenue. No arrests were made.

Fireworks Reported

• At 9:40 p.m. on Sunday, police received a report of fireworks going off in the 800 block of Southwest Chehalis Avenue.

Phone, Wallet Stolen

• At 12:16 p.m. on Monday, a phone and wallet were reported stolen from an office in the 100 block of Northeast Hampe Way.

Suspect Cited for Alcohol Theft

• At 3:03 p.m. on Monday, police responded to a report of a shoplifter stealing alcohol in the 1000 block of South Market Street. Mitchell W. Sinclair, 49, of Chehalis, was cited on suspicion of third-degree theft for allegedly stealing $17.98 in whiskey.

Man Arrested After Being Found Asleep in Running Car

• At 2:38 a.m. on Saturday, deputies responded to the 1300 block of state Route 603 in Chehalis to a report of a vehicle running and a person slumped over in the front seat. Deputies arrived and arrested the driver, Chey D. C. Moore, 24, of Longview, on suspicion of physical control of a vehicle while intoxicated.

 Bike, Tools Stolen in Randle Burglary

• At 8:32 p.m. on Saturday, deputies responded to a report of a burglary in the 200 block of Cispus Road in Randle that had occurred sometime since July 23. A bicycle and miscellaneous tools and household items were reported stolen. A house and pump house were broken into. An investigation is ongoing.

Deputies Arrest Teen With Stolen Vehicle

• At 12:45 p.m. on Saturday, deputies received a report of a stolen vehicle being located in the 2800 block of Mt. Vista Road in Centralia. A 15-year-old boy was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Juvenile Detention Center on suspicion of possessing a stolen vehicle and referred to prosecutors for not having a valid permit to drive the vehicle. The teen reportedly admitted to deputies that he knew the 2004 Dodge Dakota was stolen.

DUI Collisions

• At 10:36 p.m. on Saturday, deputies responded to a report of a crash in the 500 block of Lucas Creek Road in Chehalis. Norma Rogers, 67, of Chehalis, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.

• At 5:59 p.m. on Sunday, deputies responded to an area near the intersection of Taylor Street and Yahtahay Lane in Centralia after receiving a report of a vehicle crash. Deputies arrested the driver, Jeffrey W. Harris, 50, of Centralia, on suspicion DUI.

Rifle Stolen from Vehicle

• At 7:30 a.m. on Sunday, deputies responded to a report of a vehicle prowl and a theft of a rifle in the 300 block of River Road in Chehalis. The victim, a 46-year-old Doty man, reported a Stevens 22 long rifle stolen from a vehicle. He told police he was at a swimming area and was picking berries when he heard car doors slamming and investigated. He saw his vehicle had been broken into, the gun stolen, and another car driving off.

Lewis County Jail Statistics

• As of Tuesday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total population of 190 inmates, with 164 in general population and 21 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center. Of general population inmates, 135 were male and 29 were female. Of WERC inmates, 21 were male and 5 female. A total of 44 inmates were booked through contracts with agencies outside Lewis County.
