Sirens: Suspect Attempts Liquor Theft; Dirt Bike Stolen from Garage; Woman Booked on Indecent Exposure Charge

Suspect Attempts Liquor Theft

• At 10:53 a.m. on Monday, police received a report of an attempted theft of liquor from a store in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue. A man reportedly tried to take 12 bottles of liquor, but the bottles were recovered after employees confronted the suspect.

Shoplifters Reported

• At 2:41 p.m. on Monday, a shoplifter was reported in the 1300 block of Lum Road. Jeans were stolen.

• At 9:08 p.m. on Monday, police received a report of a theft of items from a business in the 1200 block of Harrison Avenue. A female suspect reportedly took items valued at $100. No arrests were made.

• At 5:34 p.m. on Wednesday, police received a report of a theft of a cart full of groceries in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue. The suspect was contacted by store employees and reportedly left the stolen items behind before fleeing on foot.

Vehicle Prowls

• At 4:37 p.m. on Monday, a vehicle prowl was reported in the 2000 block of Borst Avenue. A purse containing an identification card and a bank card was taken. The passenger side front window was broken.

• At 9:19 a.m. on Wednesday, a camera and GPS were reported stolen from a vehicle in the 1500 block of Lum Road.

• At 10:10 a.m. on Wednesday, a Garmin GPS device was reported stolen from an unlocked car in the 700 block of West First Street.

• At 3:42 p.m. on Wednesday, tools were reported stolen from a vehicle in the 1800 block of Cooks Hill Road.

• At 7:20 a.m. on Thursday, a pair of Nike shoes and a basketball were reported stolen from a vehicle in the 1400 block of Harrison Avenue.

Suspects Booked on Meth Charges

• At 4:25 p.m. on Monday, police responded to a report of a dispute in the 2000 block of Borst Avenue in Centralia. William Sacks Jr., 54, a transient from Centralia, was arrested on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine. Officers contacted Sacks as part of their investigation into the dispute and reported finding methamphetamine in his possession.

• At 12:53 a.m. on Tuesday, police arrested Joshua A.P. LeBlanc, 34, of Winlock, in the 800 block of Harrison Avenue on an outstanding state Department of Corrections warrant. Officers reported finding methamphetamine in his possession and arrested him on the drug charge as well.

• At 5:11 a.m. on Thursday, police arrested Jennie B. Young, 28, a transient, in the 1200 block of Mellen Street on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine and for an outstanding warrant.

 Shopping Cart Taken

• At 3:16 p.m. on Tuesday, a shopping cart was reported stolen in the 1000 block of Belmont Avenue.

Vehicle Stolen

• At 4:33 p.m. on Tuesday, a 1999 Nissan Altima was reported stolen in the 1100 block of South Tower Avenue in Centralia. A suspect has been identified.

Assault Leads to Vehicle Chase

• At 9:18 p.m. on Tuesday, police received a report of a fourth-degree assault in the 1200 block of Mellen Street. The assault, by a known suspect, reportedly led to one vehicle chasing another and a hit and run collision.

Fuel Stolen

• At 5:20 a.m. on Wednesday, fuel was reported stolen from a vehicle in the 900 block of South Scheuber Road. The gas line was cut and gas was siphoned. An investigation is ongoing.

Sexual Assault Reported

• At 8:13 a.m. on Wednesday, a sexual assault was reported in the 600 block of South King Street.

Lock Cut

• At 8:47 a.m. on Wednesday, police received a report of malicious mischief in the 1400 block of South Gold Street. An unknown suspect cut a lock on a gate.

Boat Motor Stolen

• At 9:53 a.m. on Wednesday, a Johnson Seahorse 7.5 horsepower boat motor was reported stolen from the 600 block of Richmond Avenue.

Hit and Run

• At 4:27 p.m. on Wednesday, a hit and run was reported in the 100 block of West High Street.

Assault Suspect Arrested

• At 1:31 a.m. on Thursday, police arrested Sean C. Andrews, 26, of Centralia, in the 300 block of East Pine Street on suspicion of fourth-degree assault, domestic violence.

Woman Cited for Throwing Lit Cigarette Out Vehicle Window

• At 4:42 a.m. on Thursday, police cited Dawn D. Galbreath, 59, of Centralia, near the intersection of Harrison Avenue and Interstate 5 for allegedly throwing a lit cigarette out her vehicle’s window.

Chehalis Police Department

Vehicle Stolen

• At 8:40 a.m. on Friday, a 2003 International flat bed truck was reported stolen in the 200 block of North Quincy Place. The theft occurred overnight.

Dirt Bike Stolen from Garage

• At 9:07 a.m. on Friday, a Kawasaki KLX 140L dirt bike was reported stolen from a garage in the 300 block of Southwest Eighth Street.

Thefts

• At 9:07 a.m. on Friday, a third-degree theft was reported in the 1000 block of North National Avenue.

• At 12:01 p.m. on Friday, police received a report of a theft in the 600 block of West Main Street. A woman reportedly took a beer. No arrests were reported.

• At 2:59 p.m. on Saturday, police received a report of a shoplifter in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue. Ronda L. Teshera, 47, of Centralia, was cited on suspicion of third-degree theft. She was accused of stealing $24.07 in merchandise, including lighters and portable chargers.

• At 6:47 p.m. on Monday, police responded to the 1600 block of Louisiana Avenue after receiving a report of a shoplifter. Charlotte S. Norton, 30, of Centralia, was cited on suspicion of third-degree theft for allegedly taking $145.84 in merchandise.

• At 11 a.m. on Monday, police responded to the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue to a report of a shoplifter. David B. Fountain, 39, of Olympia, was arrested on suspicion of second-degree burglary for allegedly taking $295.88 in merchandise.

Trespassers Reported

• At 9:46 a.m. on Friday, police received a report of a trespasser in the 1000 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue. A person was reportedly in a “makeshift structure” behind a dumpster.

• At 10:27 a.m. on Saturday, police received a report of a trespasser in the 600 block of Northwest Arkansas Way. A man was reportedly digging through dumpsters and bothering customers.

• At 12:20 p.m. on Monday, police received a report of a person trespassing in the 600 block of Southeast Dobson Court in Chehalis. A man was reportedly “taking a crap” in a woman’s bushes. No arrests were made.

• At 11:59 a.m. on Tuesday, police received a report of a trespasser in the 1000 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue.

• At 6:20 p.m. on Tuesday, police received a report of a trespasser in the 100 block of Southwest Interstate Avenue.

Cash Stolen

• At 3:48 p.m. on Friday, cash was reported stolen in the 1000 block of North National Avenue.

• At 6:48 p.m. on Sunday, money was reported stolen from a vehicle in the 1000 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue.

• At 7:57 p.m. on Tuesday, police received a report of a theft of money in the 400 block of North Market Boulevard. A man reported someone “conned” his daughter out of money.

Drunk and Disorderly Woman Reported

• At 4:03 a.m. on Saturday, police received a report of a drunken and disorderly woman yelling in the 600 block of Southeast Dobson Court.

Stolen Vehicle Recovered

• At 6:54 a.m. on Saturday, a man reported he found his stolen 1989 Toyota truck parked by railroad tracks in the 400 block of Northwest Park Street.

Wallet, Purse Stolen

• At 7:19 a.m. on Saturday, a man reported his wallet was stolen from him in the 1000 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue.

• At 12:05 p.m. on Sunday, a purse was reported stolen in the 1000 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue.

Woman Booked on Indecent Exposure Charge

• At 1:27 p.m. on Sunday, police responded to the 500 block of North Market Boulevard to a report of a woman urinating on a sidewalk in front of a business. Megan H. Jones, 33, of Chehalis, was arrested on suspicion of indecent exposure.

Phone Taken

• At 6:25 p.m. on Sunday, a phone was reported stolen in downtown Chehalis.

Counterfeit Cash Reported

• At 2:34 p.m. on Monday, police responded to a report of a person attempting to use counterfeit cash at a store in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue. Charles E. Wiegard, 58, of Centralia, was arrested on suspicion of forgery. The Lewis County Prosecutor’s Office declined to file charges in Superior Court Tuesday.

Burglary Reported

• At 10:27 a.m. on Monday, a burglary was reported in the 1000 block of Northwest State Avenue. A lock was reportedly broken and there was “weed all over the floor,” according to a report from the Chehalis Police Department.

Woman Reports Harassing Texts

• At 9:36 p.m. on Monday, police received a report of a woman receiving harassing text messages in the 300 block of Southwest Third Street.

Assault Reported

• At 3:35 p.m. on Tuesday, police received a report of a fourth-degree assault near the intersection of 10th Street and McFadden Avenue.

Vehicle Tow Dolly Stolen

• At 4 p.m. on Tuesday, a tow dolly was reported stolen the previous weekend in the 2000 block of North National Avenue.

Saw Stolen in Burglary

• At 5:38 p.m. on Tuesday, a circular saw was reported stolen from a garage in the 200 block of Southwest 16th Street.

Hit and Run

• At 5:53 p.m. on Tuesday, a hit and run was reported in the 400 block of Northwest State Avenue.

Tire Flattened

• At 6:22 a.m. on Wednesday, police received a report of malicious mischief to a vehicle in the 1000 block of North National Avenue. A tire was flattened.

Lewis County Sheriff’s Office

Tacoma Man Suspected in Threats, Assault in Packwood

• At 4 p.m. on Saturday, deputies at the Packwood Flea Market responded to the 12800 block of State Route 12 to a report of harassment and an assault. The alleged victim, a 32-year-old Tacoma woman, reported she and the suspect, a 52-year-old Tacoma man, were driving in the area when the man, who was driving, pulled over, threatened to kill her and tried to drag her out of the vehicle. Passersby saw and responded, and the suspect allegedly fled the scene. Deputies were unable to locate him and plan to refer him to the Lewis County Prosecutor’s Office on suspicion of felony harassment and fourth-degree assault.

Drivers Arrested on DUI Charges

• At 9:50 p.m. on Saturday, a deputy conducted a traffic stop in the 200 block of Middle Fork Road in Chehalis for a defective brake light. The driver of the stopped vehicle, identified as Benny L. Cozart, 44, of Onalaska, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.

• At 12:50 a.m. on Sunday, a deputy conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that allegedly drove through a stoplight in the 100 block of Locust Street in Centralia. The driver, Randy L. Howlett, 41, of Chehalis, was arrested on suspicion of DUI.

Randle Woman Arrested on Warrants, Suspicion of Drugs

• At 4:02 p.m. on Monday, deputies responded to the 9700 block of U.S. Highway 12 in Randle as part of an investigation into unlawful issuance of bank checks. While there, they arrested Miranda Griffith, 25, of Randle, on two warrants. They also planned to refer her to prosecutors on suspicion of third-degree theft. She was also arrested on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine, but the Lewis County Prosecutor’s Office declined to charge her on that offense Tuesday pending further investigation.

Lewis County Jail Statistics

• As of Thursday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total population of 185 inmates, with 162 in general population and 23 in its Work Ethic and Restitution Center. Of general population inmates, 133 were male and 29 female and of WERC inmates, 18 were male and five female. A total of 46 inmates were booked through contracts with agencies outside Lewis County.
