Sirens: Summons Issued for Candy Theft; Woman Arrested for Punching Sleeping Man

Centralia Police Department

Assault Suspects Arrested

• At 12:49 p.m. on Friday, police responded to a report of an assault in the 2100 block of North Pearl Street and arrested Cheyenne A. Gould, 18, of Centralia, on suspicion of fourth-degree assault, domestic violence.

• At 1:28 a.m. on Sunday, Enrique Ramirez-Perez, 25, of Centralia, was arrested on suspicion of fourth-degree assault after an incident reported in the 1800 block of North Pearl Street. 

• At 2:53 p.m. on Sunday, police responded to a report of an assault in the 1100 block G Street. Jennifer L. Rogers, 49, of Centralia, was arrested on suspicion of fourth-degree assault, domestic violence, after allegedly pushing and spitting on a family member.

Mailbox, Vehicle Damaged in Hit and Run

• At 3:44 p.m. on Friday, a hit and run was reported in the 700 block of East Third Street. A mailbox and a parked vehicle were damaged. 

Store Window Hit with BB Gun

• At 4:10 p.m. on Friday, a hole made by a BB gun was reported in a store window in the 1500 block of South Gold Street. 

Two Men Flee Shoplifting Arrest in Stolen Car

• At 5:29 p.m. on Friday, police responded to the 1300 block of Lum Road after receiving a report of two men shoplifting items. Witnesses provided a license plate number associated with the suspects, and officers located the car. The driver reportedly fled from police when the car was discovered to be stolen. The vehicle was later located in Thurston County. 

Vehicle Prowls

• At 3:44 p.m. on Friday, a vehicle prowl was reported in the 500 block of Harrison Avenue. A diaper bag containing child care products was stolen from a locked vehicle. 

• At 4:06 p.m. on Friday, a vehicle prowl was reported in the 900 block of Johnson Road. An iPad and sports equipment were reported stolen.

• At 9:35 p.m. on Friday, a firearm was reported stolen from a vehicle in the 300 block of South Diamond Street.

• At 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, a vehicle prowl was reported in the 1300 block of View Avenue. Multiple items were stolen. 

Bike Stolen

• At 9:36 a.m. on Saturday, a black and purple BMX bike was reported stolen the previous night in the 1100 block of Woodland Avenue. 

Tacoma Resident Booked for Protection Order Violation 

• At 5:34 p.m. on Saturday, police received a report of a violation of a protection order in the 1700 block of Cooks Hill Road. Morinola B. Atinsola-Moronto, 41, of Tacoma, was arrested on suspicion of violating a pre-trial no-contact order. 

Woman Arrested After Allegedly Punching Sleeping Man

• At 2:32 a.m. on Sunday, police responded to a report of an assault in the 400 block of South Buckner Street. Kendra W. Benfield, 22, of Lacey, was arrested on suspicion of fourth-degree assault after allegedly showing up at a boyfriend’s house and punching him while he slept. 

Suspect Sent Summons for Candy Theft

• At 4:08 p.m. on Sunday, police responded to a report of a theft of a candy bar in the 1200 block of Mellen Street. A 36-year-old Centralia man was sent a summons for third-degree theft. 

Travel Trailer Battery Stolen

• At 7:05 p.m. on Sunday, police received a report of a theft of a battery from a travel trailer in the 700 block of J Street. 

Chehalis Police Department

Shoplifting Suspects Arrested

• At 2:03 p.m. on Friday, police responded to a report of a shoplifter in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue. Stacy J. Mitchell, 42, of Chehalis, was arrested on suspicion of third-degree theft for allegedly stealing $57.42 in merchandise.

• At 11:22 a.m. on Sunday, police responded to a report of a shoplifter in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue. Leslie A. Ortquist, 48, of McCleary, was arrested on suspicion of third-degree theft for allegedly taking $38.39 in makeup.

• At 4:06 p.m. on Sunday, police responded to a report of an adult and a juvenile shoplifting in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue. Tehali J. Chambers, 21, of Beaverton, Oregon, was arrested on suspicion of third-degree theft. 

Protection Order Violated

• At 3:20 p.m. on Friday, police received a report of a violation of a protection order in the 500 block of Southwest Riverside Drive.

Rochester Suspect Arrested With Stolen Car

• At 11 p.m. on Friday, police on patrol in the 600 block of Northwest Middle Street found a vehicle that had been reported stolen in Pierce County. Daniel D. Karl, 32, of Rochester, was arrested on suspicion of second-degree possession of stolen property.

Shoplifting Reported

• At 9:13 a.m. on Saturday, police received a report of a shoplifter in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue. The theft occurred the previous day. 

Trespasser Reported at Apartment Building

At 4:03 p.m. on Saturday, police received a report of a trespasser sitting in the hallway of an apartment building in the 200 block of Northwest Chehalis Avenue. 

Suspect Allegedly Eats Food in Store Without Paying

• At 6:12 p.m. on Saturday, police received a report of a shoplifter in the 1300 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue. A man was reportedly walking through the store eating food and attempted to take alcohol. No arrests were made. 

 Harassment Reported

• At 12:53 p.m. on Sunday, police received a report of a harassment in the 1700 block of South Market Boulevard. 

• At 2:08 p.m. on Sunday, police received a report of harassment in the 1500 block of North National Avenue. 

• At 5:29 p.m. on Sunday, police received a report of harassment from the 1500 block of North National Avenue. 

Hit and Run

• At 2:26 p.m. on Sunday, police received a report of a hit and run in the 1300 block of Southwest Johnson Avenue. 

Lewis County Sheriff’s Office

Suspects Booked on DUI Charges

• At 1:41 p.m. on Saturday, police responded to a location near the intersection of Canon Road and Saddle Horse Lane in Packwood and arrested Stephen Eric Valacer, 38, of Packwood, on suspicion of driving under the influence.

• At 6:23 p.m. on Saturday, deputies responded to the 1200 block of Lum Road and arrested Gregory Scott Paul, 39, of Centralia, on suspicion of DUI. 

• At 1:12 a.m. on Sunday, deputies responded to a parking lot in the 1000 block of Harrison Avenue after receiving a report of a vehicle backing over a sidewalk. Garrett Raymond Hicks, 20, of Centralia, was arrested on suspicion of a physical control DUI while being under 21. 

Victim Reports Guns Stolen During Move

• On Sunday, deputies contacted a 77-year-old Onalaska man who reported two guns stollen on Friday in the 400 block of Gore Road in Onalaska. The man reported he was moving and numerous people were helping him. He said he noticed the guns were stolen Friday. The theft is under investigation.

Man Booked on Warrant Found With Meth

• At 8 a.m. on Sunday, deputies responded to the Lewis County Jail to a report of an inmate with a controlled substance. Christopher Charles Mercer, 33, of Olympia was booked into the Lewis County Jail that morning on a warrant. Mercer reportedly told jail staff he had drugs in his backpack. Deputies searched and found a plastic bag with a substance that field-tested positive as methamphetamine. 

Lewis County Jail Statistics

• As of Tuesday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 208 inmates including 176 in general population and 31 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center. Of general population inmates, 151 were male and 25 were female and of WERC inmates, 27 were male and four female. One inmate was on work release and 52 were booked through contracts with other agencies.
