Scam Callers Claim to Be From IRS

• At 11:17 a.m. on Friday, police received a report of a scam phone call from the 900 block of Yew Street. A person reported getting a call from someone claiming to be from the Internal Revenue Service who was demanding payment. The resident hung up. 

• At 12:25 p.m. on Friday, police received a second call reporting a scam caller, this time from the 1100 block of G Street. The resident reported the scammer claimed to be from the IRS. 

Centralia Women Booked on Assault Charges

• At 5:31 p.m. on Friday, police responded to a report of an assault in the 200 block of West Oakview Avenue and arrested Barbara J. Corson, 82, of Centralia, on suspicion of fourth-degree assault. Corson was booked into the Lewis County Jail.

• At 12:58 a.m. on Monday, police responded to the 1200 block of North Washington Avenue to a report of an assault. Jacqueline L. Ayala, 39, of Centralia, was arrested on suspicion of fourth-degree assault. 

Hit and Run

• At 10:51 p.m. on Friday, police received a report of a hit and run at the intersection of Reynolds Road and Northbound Interstate 5. The suspect vehicle was later found abandoned.

Two Arrested After Entering Employee-Only Area of Business

• At 9:04 a.m. on Saturday, police received a report of a burglary in the 600 block of Harrison Avenue. Police arrested Michael P. Doven, 35, of Chehalis and Jesse M. McCracken, 21, of Centralia, on suspicion of second-degree burglary. They were accused of going into a part of a business for employees only and taking merchandise.

Power Tools Stolen

• At 3:24 p.m. on Saturday, police received a report of a burglary in the 500 block of South Ash Street. Power tools were stolen from a residence overnight. 

Suspects Arrested on Trespass Charges

• At 8:13 p.m. on Saturday, police responded to the 1300 block of Lakeshore Drive in Centralia and arrested Brian R. Bradshaw, 47, of Sedro-Woolley, on suspicion of criminal trespass. He reportedly refused to leave a business when asked. 

• At 3:16 a.m. on Sunday, police responded to the 200 block of West Main Street and arrested Michael L. Hensley, 37, a transient, on suspicion of criminal trespass. He was accused of camping on a property he had been asked to leave. 

Transient Booked on Protection Order Violation

• At 9:41 p.m. on Saturday, police responded to the 1500 block of Lewis Street and arrested Vern J. Gumph, 54, a transient, on suspicion of violation of a domestic-violence no-contact order. 

Honda Stolen

• At 12:18 p.m. on Sunday, a Honda Accord was reported stolen in the 1400 block of Harrison Avenue overnight. It was later recovered in Grays Harbor County. 

Assault Under Investigation

• At 6:09 p.m. on Sunday, police received a report of an assault that occurred in the past few days in the 300 block of Noel Avenue. The incident is under investigation. 

Window Broken

• At 10:33 a.m. on Monday, police received a report of malicious mischief in the 1000 block of Alder Street. A home’s rear window was damaged. 

Vehicle Prowl

• At 7:34 p.m. on Monday, power saws were reported stolen from a parked work truck in the past week in the 500 block of West Fourth Street. 

Counterfeit Cash

• At 12:05 a.m. on Tuesday, a business in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue reported receiving a counterfeit $100 bill. The bill was discovered in a cash register.

Gasoline Stolen

• At 7:41 a.m. on Friday, police received a report of a theft of gasoline from a car in the 300 block of Southwest Third Street. 

Scam Call

• At 9:24 a.m. on Friday, a person on Southwest Second Street reported receiving a scam phone call.

Hit and Runs

• At 11:46 a.m. on Friday, police received a report of a hit and run in the 500 block of South Market Boulevard. 

• At 12:05 p.m. on Friday, police received a report of a hit and run in the 1900 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue. The incident reportedly occurred a month ago. 

Assaults Reported

• At 1:15 p.m. on Friday, police received a report of an assault from a caller in the 300 block of North Market Boulevard. A person reported their mother was assaulted in a homeless camp.

• At 5:27 p.m. on Friday, police received a report of an assault in the 200 block of Northeast Terrace Road. A suspect reportedly spit on a woman.

• At 3:56 a.m. on Sunday, police received a report of an assault in the 2100 block of North National Avenue. No arrests were made.

Man With Machete Accused of Theft

• At 3:03 p.m. on Friday, police received a report of a man with a machete in his clothes stealing items in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue.  Alex G. Seals, 27, of Olympia, was arrested on suspicion of third-degree theft for allegedly taking $105.58 in merchandise. 

Teens Play in Traffic

• At 3:22 p.m. on Friday, police received a report of teenage boys standing in the middle of traffic in the 200 block of Southwest 13th Street. 

Intoxicated Man Starts Fights

• At 1:01 a.m. on Saturday, police received a report of an intoxicated man starting fights in the 700 block of Northwest Liberty Place.

Burglary Reported

• At 3:52 a.m. on Saturday, a burglary was reported in the 1200 block of South Market Boulevard. 

Rochester Suspect Booked on Warrant After Theft Report

• At 2:56 p.m. on Saturday, police responded to a report of a shoplifter in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue. A suspect fled the scene but was later arrested. Corey M. Christensen, 27, of Rochester, was arrested on outstanding felony and misdemeanor warrants and is being referred to prosecutors on suspicion of second-degree burglary, because he was previously banned from the business where the alleged theft occurred.

Suspect Faces Charges After Assault Reported

• At 11:54 p.m. on Saturday, police received a report of an assault in the 800 block of North National Avenue. A 32-year-old Chehalis man is being referred to the Lewis County Prosecutor’s Office on suspicion of second-degree assault, domestic violence and felony harassment.

Stalking Reported

• At 12:39 p.m. on Sunday, police received a report of harassment and stalking in the 400 block of Southwest 16th Street. 

Vehicle Prowl

• At 1:14 p.m. on Sunday, a vehicle prowl was reported in the 100 block of North Market Boulevard.

Two Arrested After Hit and Run

• At 1:52 p.m. on Sunday, police received a report of a hit and run in the 1100 block of South Market Boulevard. Elias A. Galaviz, 21, of Chehalis, was arrested on suspicion of hit and run attended and third-degree driving with a suspended license. A 16-year-old girl from Chehalis was also arrested on an outstanding juvenile court warrant.

Two Booked After Report of Protection Order Violation

• At 1:55 a.m. on Monday, police responded to a report of a violation of a protection order in the 700 block of West Main Street. Dylan E. Pirtle, 30, of Centralia, was arrested on suspicion of violation of a protection order and on an outstanding warrant. Anna M. Folden, 21, of Centralia, was arrested on an outstanding warrant.

Teen Found with Suspected Marijuana, Brass Knuckles

• At 1:50 p.m. on Monday, police responded to the 300 block of Southwest 16th Street after receiving a report that a juvenile was found with “green vegetable material” and brass knuckles on school grounds. A 15-year-old Chehalis male is being referred to juvenile court on suspicion of possession of marijuana and possession of a dangerous weapon on school grounds.

Police, Aid Crews Respond to Man Walking in Road

• At 6:03 p.m. on Monday, police responded to a report of a man walking in the middle of the road on Kresky Avenue heading toward Centralia. Aid crews were called for possible severe intoxication. 

Lewis County Sheriff’s Office

Vehicle Taken in Packwood Break-In

• At 2:13 p.m. on Sunday, police responded to the 100 block of Tatoosh Trail in Packwood to a report of a burglary at a residence in the past few days. Unknown suspects entered a residence and took keys to an outbuilding and a second residence on the property. A 1977 GMC Jimmy was stolen. 

Knives, Cash Stolen in Glenoma Burglary

• At 5:45 p.m. on Sunday, deputies responded to a report of a burglary at a residence in the 100 block of Uden Road East in Glenoma. Pocket knives, cash and electronic devices were reported stolen. Suspects also allegedly attempted to drill out a lock to open a gun safe but were unsuccessful. The burglary reportedly occurred between Friday evening and Sunday afternoon. The case is under investigation.

Alcohol, Propane Torch Taken After Break-In at Fishing Cabin

• At 10:33 a.m. on Monday, a burglary was reported in the 200 block of Union Avenue in Centralia. The victim reported an unknown suspect broke into a fishing cabin at that location by removing a window and stole a propane torch, half a gallon of Irish cream and other alcoholic beverages.  

Lewis County Jail Statistics

• As of Tuesday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total of 235 inmates including 200 in general population and 33 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center. Of general population inmates, 167 were men and 35 women and of WERC inmates, 29 were men and two women. A total of 26 inmates were booked through agencies outside Lewis County.
