Sirens: Man Arrested After Assault Over Soda; Threat to Nurse; Stolen Mail Dumped in Thurston County

Centralia Police Department

Keys Stolen in Burglary

• At 10:01 a.m. on Friday, a burglary was reported to a shed in the 2000 block of Borst Avenue in Centralia. Keys were reported stolen.

Movie Money Used in Centralia

• At 4:52 p.m. on Friday, police received a report of a fake $100 bill being used in the 200 block of North Tower Avenue. The victim business received the money, labeled “Motion Picture Money,” the previous day and it is unknown who used the bill. 

Centralia Man Arrested After Alleged Threat to Nurse

• At 6:52 p.m. on Friday, police responded to a report of disorderly conduct in the 1300 block of Alexander Street. Steven L. Devore, 62, of Centralia, was cited and released to a family member on suspicion of interfering with a health care facility. He was accused of threatening staff at a nursing home. 

Bar Fight Leads to Assault Report

• At 1:03 a.m. on Saturday, police responded to a report of an assault in the 100 block of South Tower Avenue. A female victim reported being assaulted by an unknown woman during a dispute at a bar. The victim received minor injuries. The case is under investigation. 

DUI

• At 1:14 a.m. on Saturday, police arrested Kirk M. Holmes, 57, of Centralia, in the 100 block of South Railroad Avenue on suspicion of driving under the influence. 

Vehicle Prowls

• At 2:35 a.m. on Saturday, a vehicle prowl was reported in the 600 block of South Washington Avenue. Keys were reported stolen overnight. 

• At 7:18 a.m. on Saturday, a vehicle prowl was reported in the 600 block of South Ash Street. Sunglasses and a backpack were stolen.

• At 7:19 a.m. on Saturday, a vehicle prowl was reported in the 600 block of Yew Street. It is unknown if anything was stolen. 

• At 12:29 a.m. on Saturday, a vehicle prowl was reported in the 500 block of Yew Street. Vehicle registration paperwork was taken. Police located the paperwork and returned it to the owner. An investigation is ongoing. 

• At 10:22 a.m. on Monday, a vehicle prowl was reported in the 500 block of Hemlock Street. A flashlight was reportedly stolen from a vehicle on July 6.

Car Keyed

• At 10:18 a.m. on Saturday, a vehicle was reported “keyed” overnight in the 100 block of Virginia Drive. 

Stolen Vehicle Recovered

• At 1:17 p.m. on Saturday, police recovered a vehicle reported stolen July 1 in Portland, in the 900 block of South Silver Street. 

Child Car Seat Taken

• At 4:27 p.m. on Saturday, a child’s car seat was reported stolen from a vehicle in the 400 block of Brock Street. The case is under investigation. 

Man Arrested After Alleged Assault Over Soda

• At 4:32 p.m. on Saturday, police responded to a report of an assault in the 200 block of East Chestnut Street. John C. Baker, 74, of Centralia, was arrested on suspicion of fourth-degree assault for allegedly punching his roommate in the arm during a dispute over soda. 

Bicycle, Tools Taken in Burglary

• At 10:39 p.m. on Saturday, a burglary was reported to a business in the 500 block of West Main Street. A yellow Huffy bicycle and tools were stolen. An investigation is ongoing. 

Lightbars Stolen from Vehicles

• At 8:53 a.m. on Sunday, a 54-inch LED off-road lightbar was reported stolen in the 400 block of South Iron Street. 

• At 2:56 p.m. on Sunday, a 48-inch LED lightbar was reported stolen overnight from a vehicle in the 300 block of North Tower Avenue. 

• At 11:51 a.m. on Sunday, a 48-inch LED lightbar was reported stolen from a business in the 800 block of B Street. A suspect entered the business’s property by cutting a fence.

Georgia Resident Arrested with Stolen Bike

• At 9:37 a.m. on Sunday, police arrested Kimberly R. Terrell, 40, of Georgia, in the 500 block of North Tower Avenue on suspicion of second-degree possession of stolen property, third-degree malicious mischief and trespassing. She was reportedly found in possession of a yellow bicycle reported stolen the night before. 

Assault Caught on Video

• At 6 p.m. on Sunday, police received a report of an assault in which pliers were used as a weapon in the 100 block of East Center Street. Video of the incident reportedly showed the person with the pliers was being attacked. An investigation is ongoing. 

Medication Stolen

• At 6:28 p.m. on Sunday, medication was reported stolen in the 1200 block of North Washington Avenue. 

Theft Reported

• At 7 p.m. on Sunday, items were reported stolen from a store in the 600 block of Harrison Avenue. 

Burglary

• At 3:12 p.m. on Monday, a burglary was reported in the 1400 block of Mellen Street. An investigation is ongoing.

Leased Viola Stolen

• At 3:21 p.m. on Monday, police received a report of a theft of a leased viola in the 100 block of South Tower Avenue. A court summons was sent to the suspect.

Chehalis Police Department

Hit and Run

• At 8:51 a.m. on Friday, a hit and run was reported in the 300 block of Southwest Cascade Avenue. 

• At 12:04 p.m. on Saturday, a hit and run was reported at the intersection of state Route 6 and Riverside Drive. 

Suspect Arrested on Disorderly Conduct Charge

• At 8:54 a.m. on Friday, police responded to a report of disorderly conduct in the 500 block of Southeast Washington Avenue. Shane W. Israel, 39, was arrested on suspicion of disorderly conduct. He alleged head-butted another person, who declined to pursue charges.

Possible Burglary Reported

• At 10:54 a.m. on Friday, police received a report of a possible burglary and break-in to a vehicle in the 1000 block of Lewis Street. A woman reported she came home the previous day to find her kitchen window open but didn’t think anything was missing. In the morning, she discovered a vehicle had been broken into and wouldn’t start.

Accused Shoplifters Cited

• At 1:27 p.m. on Friday, police responded to a report of shoplifting in the 1000 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue.  Nadine Lopez, 33, of Centralia, was cited on suspicion of third-degree theft. 

• At 8:47 p.m. on Friday, police received a report of shoplifters in the 1000 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue. Jacob Killian, 20, of Chehalis, was cited on suspicion of third-degree theft. A second man, Chase Deguise, 20, of Rochester, was arrested on suspicion of violation of the Uniform Controlled Substances Act when reportedly found in possession of a controlled substance. 

• At 3:26 p.m. on Friday, police received a report of a shoplifting in the 1000 block of South Market Boulevard. Brandon Wootton, 23, of Burien, was cited on suspicion of third-degree theft.

• At 12:20 p.m. on Monday, police received a report of a theft in the 1000 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue. Chad H. Walker, 48, of Longview, was cited on suspicion of third-degree theft for allegedly taking $22.47 in merchandise.

• At 12:37 p.m. Monday, police received a report of a shoplifter in the 1000 block of South Market Boulevard. A person reportedly took a basket full of vitamins, food and shaving cream. No arrests were made.

Trespassers Reported

• At 3:36 p.m. on Friday, police received a report of a trespasser in the 100 block of Southwest Interstate Avenue. No arrests were made. 

• At 7:57 p.m. on Monday, a trespasser was reported in the 100 block of Southwest Interstate Avenue. 

• At 10:56 p.m. on Monday, police received a report of a trespasser in the 1000 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue. 

Telephone Harassment Reported by South Carolina Resident

• At 4:18 p.m. on Friday, police received a report from a South Carolina resident of telephone harassment. The person reported they were being harassed by a person who lives in Chehalis. 

Fireworks Violation Reported

• At 9:47 p.m. on Friday, police received a report of people lighting fireworks in the 300 block of Southwest 15th Street.

Yard Equipment Stolen

• At 9:52 a.m. on Saturday, police received a report of a theft in the 2000 block of Southwest Second Street. A Husqvarna chain saw and a weed whacker were reported stolen. 

Vehicle Prowl

• At 10:32 a.m. on Saturday, a vehicle prowl was reported in the 1000 block of Northwest State Avenue. 

Stolen Mail Dumped in Thurston County

• At 11:29 a.m. on Saturday, police received a report of a possible mail theft. A Thurston County resident reported mail addressed to people in Lewis County was dumped near his residence in Thurston County. 

Coolers Stolen

• At 6:20 p.m. on Saturday, coolers were reported stolen from the 700 block of South Market Boulevard. A suspect was identified but no arrests were made.

Items Stolen from House While Resident Moves

• At 1:58 p.m. on Friday, police received a report of a theft from the 500 block of Southwest McFadden Avenue. A woman reported she was moving out of her house, and items including a bicycle, tablet, phone and ashes in an urn were stolen. 

Juvenile Arrested on Assault Charge

• At 2:34 p.m. on Saturday, police received a report of an assault involving juveniles in the 1000 block of Rice Road. A 12-year-old from Chehalis was arrested on suspicion of fourth-degree assault. 

Man Arrested on Reckless Endangerment Charge After Gunshot

• At 11:40 p.m. on Saturday, police responded to the 200 block of Southwest William Avenue. Benny Dyer, 31, of Chehalis, was arrested on suspicion of reckless endangerment after allegedly discharging a weapon within city limits. 

Trespasser Reported

• At 5:05 p.m. on Sunday, police received a report of a man with a sheep trespassing in the 1000 block of South Market Boulevard. 

Cosmetics Stolen

• At 6:33 p.m. on Monday, cosmetics were reported stolen in the 1000 block of North National Avenue. 

Vehicle Stolen

• At 7:02 a.m. on Tuesday, a 1985 Honda Accord was reported stolen in the 200 block of Southwest 13th Street. 

Lewis County Sheriff’s Office

DUI

• At 1:44 a.m. on Saturday, deputies stopped a vehicle for driving over a curb in the 900 block of South Tower Avenue in Centralia. The driver, Megan R. Lynch, 29, of Centralia, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and third-degree driving with a suspended license for allegedly failing to have an ignition interlock in her vehicle. 

Tacoma Man Arrested After Crash

• At 2 p.m. on Saturday, police responded to about milepost 3 of Forest Service road 73 in Morton to a report of a single-vehicle crash. Deputies arrived to find a 1997 Honda Accord that had been reported stolen fully engulfed in flames. They arrested Joshua Lee Gunderson, 30, a transient from Tacoma, on suspicion of possession of a stolen vehicle and referred him to prosecutors on suspicion of second-degree arson. Gunderson was not charged Monday, pending further investigation. 

Suspect Arrested on Warrant, Drug Possession

• At 8:30 a.m. on Sunday, deputies were searching the Centralia area for a runaway juvenile when they reportedly saw a man walking into a store in the 400 block of West Main Street in Centralia who was wanted on a state Department of Corrections warrant. Deputies arrested the man, identified as Lance J. Myhre, 39, of Centralia, on the warrant and on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine.
