Sheriff’s Office: Human Remains Found in Mineral Lake

By The Chronicle

The Lewis County Sheriff’s Office is investigating whether human remains found Wednesday in Mineral Lake belong to a man reported missing and possibly drowned in the lake on July 5

The remains were discovered at about 9 a.m. Wednesday by boaters fishing on the lake, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

The boaters saw something floating in the water and discovered it was human remains. Sheriff’s Office personnel responded and brought the remains to the shore.

The Sheriff’s Office and the Lewis County Coroner’s Office are investigating the cause and manner of death, and are attempting to identify the body.

It is unknown at this time if the remains belong to Gerald L. Harris, 54, who was reported presumably drowned in the lake on July 5.

Multiple searches with dive crews and sonar were unable to locate Harris after the incident.

Anyone with information on the remains should contact the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office at 360-748-9286.
