An elderly woman was seriously injured Wednesday night after being hit by a car in a Centralia crosswalk.
The crash was reported at 8:27 p.m. in the 400 block of West Main Street, according to the Centralia Police Department.
The woman was reportedly crossing the street in a crosswalk at the intersection of West Main Street and Iron Street when she was hit by a vehicle.
Police and aid units responded, and the woman was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
The woman’s name and age have not been released.
“The bright setting sun was identified as a contributing factor, but the investigation is still ongoing,” according to a release from the police department.
The police department did not immediately release information about the vehicle suspected of hitting the woman or its driver.
