A pedestrian was seriously injured after being hit by a car this afternoon on South Gold Street at the Southwest Washington Fairgrounds.
The crash was reported at 12:24 p.m. A male pedestrian was hit by a green Acura passenger car. He was seriously injured and transported to Providence Centralia Hospital to await a medical helicopter to Seattle.
The Centralia Police Department and Lewis County Sheriff’s Office responded. About a half hour after the crash, investigators were working to piece together the events leading to the incident.
“We’re not sure exactly what happened,” said Officer Doug Lowrey, of the Centralia Police Department.
The vehicle’s windshield was shattered on the driver’s side. One person was in custody immediately after the incident.
Neither the names of the victim or driver have been released. The Chronicle will update this story when more information becomes available.
