Man Dies After Being Hit by Train Near Tenino

A 30-year-old man died Friday evening after being hit by a freight train south of Tenino, according to a report from the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office.

The incident was reported at 5 p.m. Friday near the 16800 block of Old Highway 99.

The train had reportedly been blowing its horn for an eighth of a mile, but the man was slow to respond.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, he was unable to get off the tracks before being hit and killed by the train.

The incident is under investigation.
