Level Three Sex Offender Now Transient in Lewis County

By The Chronicle

A level three sex offender has registered as a transient in Lewis County, according to a news release from the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office.

Daniel Richard Vaeth, 62, is required to register as a sex offender due to 1981 convictions for indecent liberties and second-degree rape in King County Superior Court.

Both offenses occurred in Seattle. Vaeth was accused in one incident of grabbing a 14-year-old girl, exposing himself and then fleeing the area.

He was also accused of grabbing a 19-year-old jogger from behind, then pulling her into a wooded area where she was repeatedly raped, according to the sheriff’s office.

“Accusations of sexual offenses involving different victims were dismissed as part of a plea agreement,” according to the sheriff’s office.

Vaeth was released from prison after serving his sentence in September 2001.

“Vaeth has been identified as a high risk and this community notification is required,” according to the sheriff’s office.

Vaeth was previously living at a fixed address in Centralia, but is now transient. He is described as a Native American man standing 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighing 145 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes.

It is unnerving that there are so many of these offenders. It has been proven that these urges never go away. If you have been a victim of this kind of person it is scary.
