A man found dead in Centralia last week has been identified as Michael S. Christin, 49, of Chehalis, by the Lewis County Coroner’s Office.
The man was previously identified incorrectly as a 59-year-old.
Preliminary autopsy results indicated the man died of natural causes, according to the coroner’s office, but the official cause and manner of death are pending toxicology reports, which could take up to 90 days.
As of Thursday morning, police did not believe the death of a man to be suspicious, Sgt. Tracy Murphy of the Centralia Police Department told The Chronicle.
Police received a report at 7:09 a.m. Thursday of a deceased person behind a business in the 500 block of Harrison Avenue. He was reportedly lying next to a dumpster.
“There’s nothing that appears suspicious,” Murphy said. “We don’t know at this time if it’s a medical issue or if it was the elements. We have no idea why he was there.”
The Lewis County Coroner’s Office will determine the man’s cause and manner of death.
